Luco Bronc
Overview
Luco Bronc is a former Umbaran soldier described as “an incendiary sharpshooter who still hasn’t forgiven the Republic for invading his homeworld.” He is a member of Zero Company, though his presence creates squad tension given that Umbarans aligned with the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars.
Luco is described in official materials as a sharp-tongued fighter with serious grudges who is nonetheless willing to put old grievances aside long enough to work alongside the squad.
Species: Umbaran
The Umbarans are a species introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. They are known for secrecy, manipulation, and their homeworld’s perpetual darkness. During the Clone Wars, Umbara sided with the Separatists — making Luco’s alignment with Hawks’ Republic-adjacent squad a point of confirmed narrative friction.
Squad Tension
Official communications and developer interviews confirm that the game deliberately features conflicting worldviews within the squad. Luco’s Umbaran background and anti-Republic sentiment is one of the explicitly named sources of squad friction. The game does not allow all characters to be universally appeased.
PC Gamer’s hands-on preview specifically named the Trick–Luco relationship as a confirmed friction pair. Trick is a clone trooper, and the Battle of Umbara was a brutal Republic campaign against Umbaran forces during the Clone Wars. That bad blood — a clone soldier and an Umbaran veteran working in the same squad — is one of the game’s authored tension points. See also Trick.
Permadeath Note
PC Gamer’s hands-on preview specifically cited Luco as the example of the permadeath stakes applied to story characters. Narrative lead Aaron Contreras noted the internal debate was partly centred on what it would mean if “an Umbaran sniper” like Luco caught a blaster bolt early in the campaign and was gone permanently.
