Developer & Publisher
| Role | Organisation |
|---|---|
| Developer | Bit Reactor |
| Co-developer | Respawn Entertainment |
| Publisher | Electronic Arts / Lucasfilm Games |
| Creative Director | Greg Foertsch (Bit Reactor founder) |
| Lead Designer | James Brawley |
| Narrative Director | Aaron Contreras |
Bit Reactor was founded in 2021 by Greg Foertsch, who previously served as art director at Firaxis Games for 22 years, leading the visual development of the rebooted XCOM series and Marvel’s Midnight Suns. The project originated from a call between Foertsch and the late Vince Zampella (Respawn co-founder), who offered the Star Wars licence following a single pitch meeting.
The core team is around 20 strategy-game veterans, deliberately supplemented with developers from outside the genre — including people who worked on God of War and Elder Scrolls Online — to avoid retreading old ideas. Foertsch frames his approach as “always trying to erase the last thing I did.”
Aaron Contreras, narrative director on the Star Wars Jedi series, serves as narrative director on Zero Company.
Additional key production credits confirmed by pcgames.de:
| Role | Person |

| Composer | Gordy Haab (previously Star Wars Jedi series, Battlefront) |
| Creature design consultant | Terryl Whitlatch (author of The Wildlife of Star Wars: A Field Guide) |
Design Pillars
The Bit Reactor team defined four pillars that underpin Zero Company’s design vision:
- Star Wars fidelity — remain true to the universe at all times; every design challenge has an answer within Star Wars lore
- Meaningful decisions — nearly every action (mission choice, squad composition, how missions are played) affects the story and gameplay
- Cinematic narrative — high-quality storytelling and tactical gameplay depth are not mutually exclusive; modern games can go further in this direction
- Strategy and combat — the strategic meta-layer and tactical combat must be meaningfully interconnected, not just parallel systems
Setting
Zero Company is set during the Clone Wars era, specifically the period leading into the final year of the war. The primary base of operations is the Den, located on the Ring of Kafrene — a mining colony and trading station that appeared in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The squad operates from a transport starship called the Caisson.

The game draws narrative inspiration from Andor, Rogue One, and the original trilogy, aiming for a grittier, more grounded tone than the mainline saga films.
Genre
Zero Company is a turn-based tactics game played from a top-down perspective. Each character has three action points (AP) per turn, shared across movement and abilities. The game includes a squad-level Advantage meter — a shared pool of points earned through attacking enemies — that can be spent on special abilities without consuming AP.
The game features 12 character classes: 8 standard classes available to all recruits, and 4 exotic classes restricted to specific story characters.
Full mechanics are documented under the Mechanics section.
Planets and Scale
Tactical combat missions take place across approximately a dozen different planets. Non-combat operations can reference over 150 planets across the galaxy.
Planets confirmed to appear in preview builds include Lothal, Mapuzo, and Anaxes.
The developers have confirmed that known Star Wars characters will appear as cameos. Anakin Skywalker has been confirmed to appear, as shown in the Summer Game Fest 2026 gameplay trailer. Other characters from Star Wars: The Clone Wars may also appear but have not been officially confirmed.
